Introduction A city in the Westchester County, New Rochelle lies 16 miles (26 km) from Grand Central Terminal in New York City and 2 miles north of the border with The Bronx. The city is named after the city of La Rochelle in France, a stronghold of the Huguenots. New Rochelle is the seventh largest city in the State of New York covering a total area of 34.3 km² (13.2 mi²) of which 26.8 km² (10.4 mi²) is land and 7.5 km² (2.9 mi²) of it (21.77%) is water.
