Mount Vernon



Mount Vernon became a city officially in 1892. It lies on the northern border of New York City on the Bronx and Hutchinson River. The city is within a 15-minute drive of Manhattan and a half-hour train ride to Grand Central Terminal.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 11.3 km² (4.4 mi²). 11.3 km² (4.4 mi²) of it is land and 4.3 km² (1.7 mi²) of it (0.76%) is water. The climate is pleasant in Mount Vernon . Spring and Fall are mild and winters are not extreme either. Summers tend to be hot and humid.
