Introduction New York is ranked 3rd among the 50 states of U.S and is located in the Northeastern region of United States. New York became a part of the United States union in 1788 as the 11th state. Under New York’s present constitution, the state is governed by three branches: the executive, legislative and the judicial. The executive branch consists of the governor pf New York and other executive officers which are elected independently. The second is the legislative branch which is bicameral and comprises of New York general assembly and Senate. The state has two U.S senators and 29-members in the state General Assembly and 31 electoral votes in national presidential elections. The judicial branch consists of the New York Supreme Court which is the state’s highest court, New York court of Appeals and lower courts.
